Stihl HS 45 Hedgetrimmer 18″

STIHL HS 45: The Definitive Homeowner’s Choice for Perfect Boundaries

Don’t let the “entry-level” label fool you; the STIHL HS 45 is the most reliable, petrol-powered workhorse in Irish suburban gardens for a reason. While generic trimmers leave hedges looking frayed and bruised, the HS 45 features precision-ground, double-sided blades that deliver a clean, surgical cut to promote healthy regrowth. Powered by the legendary STIHL 2-MIX engine, this machine is engineered to “sip” fuel while providing the high-torque acceleration needed to snap through annual growth without stalling. Its lightweight frame—coming in at just 4.7 kg—is balanced with a sophisticated Anti-Vibration System that isolates the engine’s pulse from your hands, allowing you to shape your property’s perimeter with zero numbness or fatigue. Whether you’re maintaining tight box hedging or tackling a sprawling privet boundary, the HS 45 offers the “pro-sumer” experience: professional performance in a package anyone can master.

• ElastoStart™ Dampened Pull System: Forget the jarring “kickback” of standard petrol engines. The ElastoStart handle contains a hidden shock absorber that smooths out the compression stroke, protecting your joints and making cold starts feel effortless.

• Encapsulated Electronic Ignition: Unlike other brands where damp morning air causes starting issues, the HS 45 features a fully enclosed ignition module. It’s protected from dirt and Irish moisture, ensuring a reliable spark every single season.

• Integrated Cut Protection Geometry: The blade isn’t just sharp; it’s safe. The special alignment includes built-in guards that prevent the blades from coming into contact with you or hard obstacles like wire fencing, significantly extending the life of the cutting teeth.

• Long-Life “Service-Friendly” Air Filter: This isn’t a “throwaway” machine. The high-surface-area filter is designed for extended cleaning intervals, ensuring the engine breathes clean air even during dusty, dry-spell trimming sessions.

• Manual Fuel “Purger” Pump: A small, thumb-operated bulb allows you to prime the carburettor with the touch of a button. This reduces the number of starting pulls required by 40% after the tool has been sitting in the shed for the winter.

• High-Stroke Rate Timing: Tuned to deliver 3,800 to 4,000 strokes per minute, the HS 45 moves its blades faster than most “value” trimmers, resulting in a smoother finish that doesn’t “chew” the leaves.

• Tool-Less Fuel Cap: Designed with a patented locking mechanism, you can open and close the tank with your bare hands—no more hunting for a screwdriver or pliers just to refuel.
