Stihl HLA 40 Long Reach Cordless Hedgetrimmer

The STIHL HLA 40 is the first dedicated telescopic long-reach hedge trimmer in the compact AS System, specifically engineered for homeowners who want to retire the ladder for good. Unlike standard handheld trimmers, this ultra-lightweight powerhouse provides a massive 2.6-metre total reach, allowing you to maintain tall hedges and wide shrubs with both feet safely on the ground. Its synchronized, double-sided blades are powered by the interchangeable AS 2 battery, offering a quiet, emission-free performance that is perfect for noise-sensitive residential areas. This isn’t just about reach; it’s about surgical control. With a tool-free articulating head that adjusts from -45° to +70°, you can transition from perfectly flat hedge tops to precision side-cuts in seconds. At just 3.5 kg (excluding battery), the HLA 40 is the ultimate agility tool, turning “all-day” pruning chores into a quick, effortless garden tidy-up.

• Industry-First “Split-Shaft” Long-Reach Design: Unique to the AS system, the HLA 40 can be quickly disassembled into a compact 115 cm transport size without tools, making it the only telescopic trimmer in its class that fits into a standard car boot or small garden locker.

• AS 2 “Smart-Link” Ecosystem: The included AS 2 battery doesn’t just power your trimmer; it is 100% compatible with the viral GTA 26 garden pruner and SEA 20 vacuum, allowing you to build a complete pro-grade tool kit around a single battery type.

• Synchronized High-Speed Blades (2,600 rpm): Features laser-cut, diamond-ground 45 cm blades with 22 mm tooth spacing. This geometry is optimized to “grab” and slice through annual growth and woody stems without the messy “chewed” look left by cheaper cordless models.

• Twist-Lock Square Telescopic Shaft: Unlike round shafts that can flex or rotate under weight, the square-profile shaft provides maximum torsional rigidity, ensuring the blade head stays exactly where you point it, even at full 2.6-meter extension.

• 115° Articulating Command Head: The cutter bar doesn’t just tilt; it locks securely into multiple positions to handle everything from overhead “top-shaping” to low-level ground cover maintenance without the operator ever having to bend down.

• Integrated Tip Protector: A screw-on guard at the end of the blade allows you to cut right up to walls, fences, or stone borders without risking expensive damage to the cutting teeth or the gearhead.

• Soft-Grip Fatigue Reduction: The ergonomic loop handle and soft-grip rear control unit are designed to minimize high-frequency vibration, allowing for the full 40-minute runtime without the hand numbness common in non-STIHL battery tools.
