Stihl HTA 86 Cordless Pole Pruner

Elevate your tree maintenance to industrial standards with the STIHL HTA 86, a cordless telescopic pole pruner designed to replace petrol power without sacrificing torque. While standard pole saws suffer from “shaft whip” at full extension, the HTA 86 is engineered with a professional-grade square telescopic shaft that maximizes rigidity, allowing for surgical precision even when reaching branches 5 metres in the air. This isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a re-engineering of the legendary HTA 85, featuring a repositioned battery slot for a “zero-gravity” balance and a 30 cm (12″) Rollomatic E Mini guide bar that delivers a cleaner, faster cut. Whether you are clearing storm damage in a noise-sensitive residential area or maintaining a commercial orchard, the HTA 86 provides the vibration-free, emission-free, and ladder-free solution that the modern Irish landscape professional demands.

• Twist-Secured Square Shaft Technology: Unlike the round shafts found on consumer models, the HTA 86 utilizes a square-profile telescopic shaft. This geometric design prevents the cutting head from twisting under load, ensuring the blade stays perfectly aligned with the branch even at the full 390 cm extension.

• Integrated Multi-Purpose Branch Hook: Located at the base of the cutting head, this reinforced steel hook isn’t just for show—it’s designed to snag and pull down loose, hung-up cuttings that would otherwise require a ladder to reach, significantly speeding up on-site cleanup.

• Lateral Chain Tensioning & Captive Nut: A feature borrowed from STIHL’s professional chainsaws; the sprocket cover features a captive nut that cannot be lost in the grass, while side-access tensioning keeps your hands safely away from the razor-sharp 1/4″ PM3 chain.

• Intuitive “Dual-Hand” Command Handle: The ergonomic grip features a self-resetting locking lever and an ERGO lever, allowing for continuous, fatigue-free operation for both left- and right-handed users—a level of accessibility rarely seen in high-reach tools.

• Tool-Free “Quarter-Turn” Oil Cap: The 105 cm³ semi-transparent oil tank features STIHL’s patented bayonet cap. You can check your bar oil levels at a glance and refill without removing your work gloves or using a single tool.

• IPX4 Weatherproof Rating: Specifically tested for “all-weather” professional use, the internal EC-motor and electronics are shielded against splash water, making it one of the few battery pole saws you can trust to perform during a typical Irish drizzle.

• Balanced Energy Distribution: By placing the AP System battery directly in the axis of the shaft, STIHL has lowered the “tilting moment.” This means the tool feels lighter in your hands because you aren’t fighting the weight of the motor at the tip.
